To call atheism “a belief in the absence of God” may not be entirely correct; but it is quite correct to call atheism “a belief in an ontology in which the world exists without God or gods” – this will be the most accurate formulation.
In other words, atheism is, after all, not just the absence of something, as its apologists would like to present it, but the presence of some alternative picture of the world-one in which it is assumed that the world can function on its own, without the presence of God or gods. That is why the popular example with a bald head is not quite correct. The place of God in ontology is also occupied by other abstractions – matter, for example, which in their ontological status are roughly comparable to God.
At the same time, the choice between different pictures of the world is quite subjective, which allows us to talk about “faith” in a particular picture of the world. We do not have exact proofs in favor of one of them, but we can argue about the degree of rationality of each of these pictures (you can read about the logical arguments in favor of the existence of God in R. Swinburne, about the justification of theism through the truth of the theory of evolution in A. Plantinga, etc.; of course, there are similar systems of argumentation in favor of atheism).
Baldness is a type of hairstyle in the form of a lack of hair?
Health is a disease without diseases?
Is sobriety an abuse of the absence of alcohol?
Is abstinence a non-sexual activity?
Answers: a bald spot is a lack of hair, but not a hairstyle in the form of their absence. Health is the absence of diseases, but not disease by their absence. Sobriety is abstinence from alcohol, but not abuse of its absence. Sexual abstinence is the absence of sex, but not the absence of sex.
Atheism is a lack of faith in God, but not a belief in his absence.
According to this logic, ignorance is negative knowledge, that is, the knowledge of ignorance. Not being able to draw is being able to draw in your dreams, and not being able to cook is being able to not cook food.
Atheism is the belief that the world was not created by God. It has many forms and types, but it is not faith. This is knowledge.
A bald spot is the color of your hair;
And an empty plate is lunch.
Atheism does not use the concept of faith at all.
Atheism operates with the concepts of “critical thinking”, “setting up an experiment”,” possibility of testing an experiment”, and”statistically significant result”.
You may or may not know about any object. The area of ignorance is divided into two sub-areas. In one is what is believed, in the other what is not believed. I repeat, it is pointless to believe or disbelieve what they know (what is your name, what is in your pocket, etc.). Atheists neither believe nor disbelieve in God, they know that he does not exist, since the existence of God contradicts the laws of conservation of matter and energy. Let us imagine that cash receipts regularly disappear from the church treasury, in contradiction with the law of conservation of matter. It is unlikely that the abbot will consider this proof of the existence of God.
.. atheism is denial God, which already speaks for itself-faith with a minus sign.
… Atheism is essentially Titanic.
… atheists may well leave a drowning vessel, which is welcome.
Atheism is the belief in the appearance of everything from nothing. I.e., the belief in a miracle.
And here's why.
God, for believers, is the supreme Intelligence that created this world by Its laws.
And atheism, by the definition of atheism, denies everything supernatural , including God, and considers the world to be self-sufficient. So, according to atheists, there are no external reasons in relation to the world. Therefore, for the atheist, the world created itself, i.e. everything came out of nothing. And since this statement cannot be proved, it is a dogma of atheistic faith, by the definition of faith.
Faith is the recognition of something as true, regardless of factual or logical justification.
But the interesting thing about atheistic faith is that even atheists reject it. For this belief to cease to be a belief, it is necessary to prove the statement about the self-creation of the world.
As far as I know, no atheist has proven it yet.
If you are an atheist, try it.

Atheism operates with the concepts of “critical thinking”, “setting up an experiment”,” possibility of testing an experiment”, and”statistically significant result”.
“Is atheism a belief in the absence of God ?” – No, this is disbelief in its existence first of all. You don't have to deny it. An agnostic is essentially the same as an atheist, because he does not believe in God and lives without God. (and theus – without god)
As a result, atheism is a belief in oneself and the omnipotence of man. This is called an idol.To almost deify themselves, the rulers gave science a political order for atheism, remember the demonstrations with portraits – like icons.
Atheism is not a belief in something.
Atheism is most often a protest. A person who is at the stage of denial. And not God himself, but the fact that there is some other authority that punishes for non-compliance with some laws.
This is how a person who carefully crosses the street may not know anything about traffic rules and fines for violating these rules. And if you are careful all your life and appear less on the road, then no knowledge of traffic rules is needed.
It's the same with atheists. If you behave carefully with others, are highly moral and delicate, then atheism will not interfere with you in any way and faith may not be needed for the rest of your life.
Psychologists analyze the path of a person who learns a complex world into 4 stages:
Denial, Trading (when an atheist meets with the facts of the unknown, a miracle, begins to bargain and explain incomprehensible facts with theories such as “suggestion”, “hypnosis”, tricks, etc.)
Some atheists may stop at the denial stage, some at the trading stage, if their curiosity does not lead them further. Some people, like Thomas the unbeliever, have miracles right in their hands, but this is a very rare miracle and only for a select few, who were called Thomas as a child. ))
Or those who participated in combat operations or walked on the edge of life and death.
Most often, the believer thinks at the first stage: “I do not know if there are these “rules” and “punishments” or not, but it is most careful to follow the rules of religion, in case it helps? Moreover, it is not difficult to go to the temple to put a candle or cross yourself, or give a note.”
At the next stage, the believer tries to determine for himself – does it all work or not? And if he meets at least the slightest facts of support from there, was lucky with this, prayer helped with the disease, etc., then he moves on to the next and next stage on the long road, until he believes that yes, there is something in heaven and the laws really have force and fate can punish you for violating morals and commandments.
Terminological disputes are the least productive…
Who is this Faith?
There are a number of questions that we can't get answers to from experience. In principle, we can't. But almost everyone chooses some answers for themselves. If you call it faith, then yes, atheism is faith.
Not to be confused with religion. Religion is a ready – made set of answers presented in the form of myths and equipped with rituals. Atheism is not a religion.
.. atheism is a negative (false) belief in the absence of God, which cannot change anything in the course of life, except adherence to atheism and condemns itself beyond the Salvation of God.
… Atheism is Titanic in essence-the belief in the unsinkability of the ship.
… atheists can easily escape from a drowning ship, which is only welcome.
At this point in history, atheism is a belief in the future omnipotence of science. It is in the future, because in the present, science is obviously not omnipotent. And it is faith, since the future omnipotence is unproven.
I am surprised that this question has not been found in this wording yet. But what serious things do we have to read:
Religious scholar Dmitry Uzlaner calls” new atheism ” (Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens) primitive propaganda of the 18th century level. Is it possible to agree with this?
How do you understand this quote: “Atheism is a naive religious belief, only inside out”?
And about that a little bit:
What is religion: the presence of faith in God or a certain belief system? Are Pastafarianism and atheism religions?
Can extreme forms of atheism be considered a kind of religion?
To deal with religiosity and atheism, you need to deal with the key point-faith. What is faith ? I, for example, either know or don't know. Where does faith belong here ? To believe is to know what you don't know (Hebrews 11: 1). This is the lot of idiots. Faith is a manifestation of weakness of the mind.
There is no point in proving the absence of God any more than there is the absence of any other thing. It makes sense to prove its presence. This is elementary logic. But it is incomprehensible to believers, because they do not think, but stupidly believe.
Faith is the recognition of something as true, regardless of the actual or logical justification (Wikipedia). Therefore, atheism is faith. The absence of God is impossible to prove. Consequently, atheists believe in Its absence without proof. And this is the purest form of faith.
You need to understand that negative faith = / = faith .
From this, in order to equate atheism with faith, it is necessary to make the main thesis, which in fact is the antithesis of atheism ( there is no God ). In most languages, it is not possible to call atheism a faith .
But when we turn to Sanskrit and Hindu terms, yes, we find positive terms that there is no God . Thus, using the method of structuralism, we proved that atheism can be considered a faith .
You can add an analogy to these judgments: I believe that there is no substance in the box in the barometer = I believe that there is a vacuum in the box in the barometer . I believe that there is no God = I believe in nirishwaravada .
