    Legend has it that if the rats escape from a ship in port, it is destined to drown on the next voyage. Rodents allegedly notice small cracks in the sides of the ship that can leak. In fact, ships in ports usually leave the surplus rat population, going in search of new habitats — this is how the gray rat has spread almost all over the world. And this migration has nothing to do with the future fate of the ship. If the ship sinks in the middle of the sea, the rats have almost no chance to escape. The gray rat swims and dives well, which is why it is not afraid of the water flooding the compartment and does not seek to get out on deck. However, if it is far from the shore, it will not reach it.
