“Not all of them, though. Monasticism is a voluntary activity. If you want children, you don't become a monk. I didn't want to, and then I wanted to-you leave the monks.
The point is to distance yourself from worldly temptations in order to devote yourself to God.
In general, it should be noted that it is not necessary to become a nun without giving birth to children. Many go already having given birth and raised children.
I would also like to note that it would be appropriate to replace virginity in this context with chastity, which everyone should strive for. We have some answers about it:
Why is chastity considered a virtue in many religions?
Is it possible to say that today chastity does not make sense and is something ridiculous?
It's not Jesus who needs virgin nuns, it's virgin nuns who need Jesus. The vow of chastity is a voluntary sacrifice of a person to a Higher Power (there are religions with different concepts of such) in order to achieve unity with it; in the case of Christianity, taking monastic vows is an analogue of betrothal to God, whose marriage will come with the Second Coming.
Jesus never needed virgin monks at all.
There is no concept of monk or nun in the Bible. The Bible has these words::
Revelation 14: 1: … And, behold, the Lamb stands on Mount Zion, and with Him a hundred and forty-four thousand, who have His Father's name written on their foreheads… These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with their wives, for they are virgins; these are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.
Are they literally virgins?
They represent the so-called Bride of Christ. What does the Bible say about His bride?
Revelation 19: 7, 8:… for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife has prepared herself. And it was given to her to put on fine linen, pure and bright; and fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of the SAINTS.
Ephesians 5: 25-27: … Husbands, love your WIVES, just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, … that he might present her to Himself as a glorious Church, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she might be holy and without blemish.
So the Bride of Christ is the Church (parishioners) but not all parishioners are understood as the bride, but only the Saints one hundred and forty-four thousand (see Revelation 14: 1 above).
The gathering of these Saints began at Pentecost in 33 years, when the Holy Spirit descended on 120 people in the form of tongues of flame.
And notice, among these people, there were very few virgins in the flesh. The Apostle Peter, for example, had a family, he had a mother-in-law:
:4:38But Simonov's mother-in-law was possessed with a violent fever.
And the other apostles were not beardless youths. Among those people was the mother of Jesus, and the Mother of John and James, and Mary Magdalene, and others.
And in their later teachings, the apostles spoke about the acceptability of marriage for Saints.
1 Corinthians 7: 25-28 … I have no commandment from the Lord concerning virginity, but I give advice as one who has received the Lord's favor to be faithful to Him. In real need for the best, I recognize that it is good for a person to stay like this. Are you united to your wife? don't seek a divorce. Was he left without a wife? don't look for a wife. But even if you marry, you will not sin; and if a maiden marries, she will not sin.
What is the virginity of the Saints referred to in the Bible?Revelation 14: 1
We read about this inRevelation 19: 8 But fine linen is the righteousness of the saints
Psalm 131: 9: … Your priests will be clothed with righteousness, and your saints will rejoice.
It is about spiritual purity and devotion to God
So Jesus doesn't need monks. On the contrary, He sent His Saints into the world.
Matthew 10: 16: … I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be therefore wise as serpents, and simple as doves.
