Depends on the context. In philosophy, they can be, for example, followers of the objectivist philosophy created by the American philosopher Ayn Rand. Very briefly, objectivism is defined as ” the philosophy of rational individualism.” “Individualism” means that objectivism focuses on the role of the individual and his creative potential, advocates the priority of personal interests over public ones, considers state interference in the private life of citizens unacceptable, and demands minimization of state regulation in the economy. “Rational” means that the proponents of this trend recognize only what is rationally justified as true. Ayn Rand herself put it this way:”My philosophy includes only what a person can perceive, define and demonstrate with the power of reason.”
In ethics, objectivists are called supporters of the idea that moral values exist objectively, that they are universal, inherent in a person and do not depend on any external factors. As the main character of the movie “Planet Ka-Pax” said, ” every living being knows from birth what is good and evil.” Subjectivists, accordingly, believe that all values are culturally conditioned and have no objective content.
But the followers of socionics use the terms “subjectivists “and” objectivists ” to describe personality types. Subjectivists, according to socionics, value bright, positive emotions, their free expression and manifestation, and reject moralizing and social rituals. Objectivists, on the other hand, value tact, etiquette, compliments, and standards of decency. For them, it is important to connect generations, respect for elders, family values, and so on.
