David Chalmers conducted a 2014 survey of 1,972 contemporary philosophers at 99 universities and organizations. The results are: atheists: 72.8%; theists (believers): 14.6%; other: 12.6%.
When we talk about “modern philosophers”, we most often mean specifically Slavoj Zizek and Noam Chomsky, since they are the most popular and public. They are both ardent atheists, but this is not reflected much in their works. And in general, the attitude of modern philosophy to religion is very controversial. The modern philosophy of postmodernism in general is very aggressively rethinking the achievements of traditional philosophy. In this interpretation, religion and its attributes have lost their cognitive and compensatory functions — now it is a specific tool for human control.
