No it doesn't depend! Modern society is an explosive mix of polar opinions, beliefs, and ideologies. A person always has a choice to be who they think they are. In the most rotten society, you can remain a human and vice versa in a clean and fair society, you can be a ghoul.
Freedom of choice, friends, freedom of choice!
It depends, but not 100%. Since a person is a social being, all social problems and public opinion, norms of behavior, traditions, and moral rules influence each of us in one way or another.
However, you always have a choice – to do this or that.
