Since the question is posed in the present tense, I became very curious, where in the 21st century did you find people who really become philosophers (in the full sense of the word) and are not shy (not afraid) to openly declare this, let alone “teach life”? To teach someone about life, today it is enough to be an active user of a social network. Become a blogger, for example, and post photos on Instagram with captions of “educational content”, which usually does not relate to visual content in any way. But this is not philosophy. Not even close to it.
If you are talking about people who are now entering higher education institutions in philosophy departments and directions, finishing them and even going to graduate school, then 1) not all of them immediately realize which faculty they have entered (many of them enter only because they did not pass the competition somewhere else); 2) they are mainly engaged in studying the philosophical tradition and abstractly retell it in their coursework and; 3) even if they go to graduate school, they pursue the goal of either staying in science and developing their research interests, or simply going on a roll (or sitting out the draft age).
As a result, today there are more theorists than philosophers who hardly want to teach anyone about life. And in general, philosophy does not do this, unlike religion. It deals with understanding life as such.
Perhaps some of those who are interested in philosophy have such a motive – someone to teach life. But not all of them. It can be said that this is not a true philosophical motive.
In the entire history of mankind, only 2-3 dozen great philosophers have appeared who have contributed to the development of philosophy. In this sense, a person becomes a great philosopher by accident. There is no guarantee that your own efforts will be able to contribute to the knowledge of the philosophical subject. If you have made a contribution to the knowledge of the truth, then it becomes the property of all mankind, and a person becomes a philosopher. And if you didn't, then you didn't.
These people, as they themselves write, are driven by a single goal: the knowledge of the truth. And the fact that someone can learn life from their works, from their formulations-this is not their task.
Of course, they often became teachers. But due to circumstances. Not with the original scope.
Initially – individual curiosity, interest in issues not related to everyday life. They are interested in questions that do not relate to how to better equip your home, how to decorate yourself more attractive, how to sell more and better salted fish, how to become a top manager. For example, already at the dawn of philosophy, in Antiquity, such philosophers as Heraclitus of Ephesus or Plato were of royal families. They had a very definite future ahead of them, but they turned away from royal honors in favor of learning the truth.
The most interesting thing is that the study of philosophy, which begins as an individual interest, turns out, and philosophy has come to this conclusion in the course of its history, to be necessary for the Truth itself. Philosophical knowledge turns out to be not just an arbitrary subjective interest, but in the one who develops his thinking to reason-the Truth itself knows itself.
It seems to me that they want to understand life, to see a little more. Philosophy helps to form views on life, to look for answers to important questions. One of the goals of philosophy is to determine the place of a person in the world. If a person is interested in this topic, if he wants to try to understand such complex issues, then philosophy, as a science, can help him.

As a professional philosopher, but also as a person who has been both on that (simple, everyday) and on the scientific and philosophical universe of the inner world, I am always interested in the opposite question-how a considerable number of people today do not become them and do not even understand, despise philosophers.. The desire and need for knowledge, analysis, and awareness lies in the foundations from the very beginning to the end of a person. Philosophy is not a profession, but a way of life, a state of mind and consciousness. Philosophers want to become those who are used to engage in demagoguery, to be clever and do not want to work.You might as well become a psychochologist,a political scientist. Such people will never benefit society and will parasitize its body.
There are different opinions about the reasons for the formation of a philosopher: “A philosopher is born as such and is not connected with any special life circumstances; the type of connection with the world and the manner of knowledge characteristic of a philosopher appear again and again at all times in all philosophically gifted people”[1].
There is also an opinion that a philosopher is someone who tries to organize chaos.

Also, a person can join philosophy during his inner spiritual crisis, which creates chaos in determining his place in the world during the transition period from childhood to adulthood, as well as from admiration for the world. From this point on, his philosophical age may begin. A number of accidents precede this, as well as a number of cases that allow for the growth of philosophical activity and philosophical work in later life. It is possible that before a person is introduced to philosophy, he has forms of consciousness that were developed in childhood. This can be the mythology of fairy tales or the content of film art, as well as interesting conversations with other people. Therefore, the point of view that asserts that becoming a philosopher is not connected with special life circumstances is not true. It is true that the philosopher appears due to a combination of circumstances, in appearance by accident.
