In self-development, I identify several areas for myself, and each of them has its own tools. Self-development for me is a constant process of studying myself, my usual ways of acting (including ways to “step on the rake”), as well as forming an attitude towards these ways (whether I want to continue in this spirit) and finding/ creating new ways of acting that will more correspond to my values.
Accordingly, one of the areas of self —development is the observation of one's own states, moods, reactions, and thoughts (especially repeated non-constructive thoughts, i.e. ruminations). The tool that helps me with this is mindfulness practice, both formal meditation practice and informal practices throughout the day.
Another area of self-development is exploring how my past and my family's past continue to influence my present. The tool for this purpose is written practices of working with personal and family history, including expressive writing (the method of J. R. R. Tolkien). Pennebaker) and exercises from the ” intensive diary” Ira Progoff.
The third direction of self — development is to clarify your own values. What is really important to me? Why do I do what I do? For this purpose, I also use written practices; the”initiative externalization map ” works best for me Michael White. In this exercise, we are invited to consider actions and actions that we are proud of, or that give us a sense of achievement, and formulate for ourselves what our intentions were, what values were realized in them, what future the realization of these values could lead to, their implementation in the world, etc.
The fourth direction of self-development is to define my personal trajectory of self-education. What is important for me to learn and understand? To find answers to this question, I analyze what I do and don't do in what is important to me. If it works, then why? What do I rely on? If it doesn't work out, what would I do differently next time? To do things differently, what knowledge and skills do I need that I don't have yet?
The fifth direction of self-development is self-education and the formation of new habits. The tools for this are: keeping records of what I've read (I keep a Telegram channel dedicated to my area of interest and collect notes for the library site). To form new habits, my main tools are a self-report diary, a visual ” board of intentions “(collage), and accountability to other people who are important to me (these are regular conversations “what is done, what happens, what hinders, how to fix it”).
For me, the means of self-development are
books, especially books by Nikolai Rubakin about self-education;
people are all like teachers, any meeting with a person becomes a lesson in self-development (with the right approach);
great Teachers; among them G. S. Altshuller, who created TRIZ, which makes it possible not to search for solutions to life problems, but to calculate them;
my own activities and projects that give energy to me and my students, where I check the level of my development. The more people the project covers , the higher my level of development.
Here is an example.
The author of TRIZ has long been dead. And his Work lives on and is developed by his students and followers. Saves time, money, and nerves for many people in business and education. And it gives new strength for all new projects.
The main tool for self – development is introspection: What did I do? what happened and why? What didn't work out and what is the reason?
How can I eliminate the interference or use it for Business?
How can I increase support even more?
If you apply this system of questions , you will develop even better and faster!
Smart decisions!
I was lucky enough to meet a cool energy practice psychologist. I take courses with her, she has practices at the intersection of science, psychology, and energy practice. I am very happy with the results!! I do not throw oars, do not get sprayed, do not get upset after receiving a refusal, unpleasant negotiations, confidence, self-esteem increased significantly, I stopped being a “lifesaver”, productivity increased, I am not afraid of new, difficult tasks, I gain inner strength, I became more convincing in negotiations, I defend my point of view, I consciously increased the cost of my services, I strengthen emotional stability, my audit became more meaningful, since it only contains specifics, and not water from emotions. In general, I continue to work:))
I'm not improving at all. In addition, I even repented that I started developing what you are looking for – methods and technologies of self-improvement. The adolescent and adolescent mind is ambitious, naive, that you can do anything-just to make an effort. In the last two years of school, from twos and threes, I reached fours and even fives in many subjects. I was engaged in wrestling and decided to go to the Olympics…Etc. I am engaged in self-education, sports, musical creativity and develop all the abilities that are really possible to perform, because they are already laid down by God.
Now very fashionable technologies of personal growth that promise a person to achieve superpowers(levitation, prophecies, healing, etc., what do cygans and various healers do). In fact, spirits are able to do this, through a person. They move in and begin to rule and rampage. And their deeds are all evil. Is everything that bad? No, our God can do much more and it is useless for such people to fight with Him. He also wants to do supernatural good works through man, through the Holy Spirit, even to the point of resurrection. But is this the main thing ? The kingdom of God is not taken, and the common man does not find himself in constant asceticism, is not able to receive the Holy Spirit, and even before accepting Christ as the savior.
Here a person is perfected to such Divine qualities as love, joy, peace, and longsuffering.
Yet Christ said to His disciples, ” Do not rejoice that you can cast out demons, but that your names are written in the Book of Life.”
Isn't a story about another person's development tools a story about their development tools?
So you need her development tools for your self-development?
Do you see the difference?
It depends on what is considered “tools”.
For me, tools are both some habits, a change in belief, and special applications and services.
Here are just a few:
To sum it all up, there has been tremendous progress over the past three years.
I read various articles from the sphere of my interests, watch news, do sports and music, speak English, read Books as well as at least try, watch educational programs on YouTube and movies
