One Answer

As soon as a person lights a cigarette, tobacco smoke containing nicotine first enters the lungs, and then within 7 seconds – to the brain. Here, the drug affects the acetylcholine receptors and is integrated into the processes responsible for pleasure. In addition, nicotine causes some arousal, and when its supply stops, depression occurs.

Thus, the drug deceives our brain, and at this time the nervous system gradually gets used to nicotine. Without it, she becomes ill, and now the withdrawal syndrome has already been created, which forces its victim to light a cigarette again and again.

At the same time, nicotine has a powerful toxic effect on all functions of the nervous system, but it is the brain cells that suffer most, since they are particularly sensitive.

But, unfortunately, this is not all: in addition to nicotine, tobacco smoke contains many other dangerous and toxic substances, which are also addictive. One of them is carbon dioxide, which causes narrowing of blood vessels, which, in turn, also negatively affects the work of the brain due to oxygen starvation (hypoxia). And it is the blockage of capillaries that creates problems with memory, vision, hearing, and performance in smokers. At an older age, it often leads to a stroke.

But it should be understood that smoking affects young people no less negatively: the influence of tobacco smoke on the nervous system is equally dangerous for all categories of smokers.

The worst thing is that smoking is not just a drug addiction that makes you reach for a cigarette again and again. In any of its manifestations – smoking hookah, electronic cigarettes, the use of supposedly harmless nasvai or other nicotine products-this is a gradual destruction of the nervous system. This in turn creates other mental problems – depressive disorders, partial memory loss, schizophrenic conditions.

    Awful, isn't it?

But, there is also some good news! Fortunately, nicotine is a very light drug, and you can get rid of this addiction without any problems if you know how.

As for health and, in particular, the nervous system, they recover, however, quite slowly.
