The simplest meaning of vanguard is to bet on the future. The avant-garde was the first movement to completely break with nostalgia, classics, or even everyday relevance. The avant-garde artist recognizes himself as a harbinger of the future in the present. Actually, this is what the name avangard sounds like – “advanced detachment”. And so it is an art that seeks something new, something that has not yet been discovered-hence the violation of genre conventions, which is very characteristic of the avant-garde.
