I dare to suggest that there is nothing in this question in terms of history, and from the point of view of historical science, this legendary and in fact very patriotic phrase will not be able to be argued. And from the point of view of literature, the phrase “To fight to the death” means to fight, to fight not for the sake of your own life, but for the sake of victory, to fight hard, resolutely and mercilessly, for the sake of destroying the enemy, even at the cost of your own life.
