  1. First, let's define what are “true works of art”? Does this mean “recognized”? But by what viewers/consumers and in what quantity?.. Or have the potential to become recognized?.. Or maybe expensive ones?..

    In general, the definition is very vague…

    Any (well, almost any) creative person is sure that they create true works of art. Sometimes some connoisseurs agree with him. Sometimes this does not happen during the author's lifetime. Which, of course, is a shame for the author.

    OK, if we study the personalities of indisputably recognized geniuses, we will find that these personalities are very different, among them there are people who are mentally ill (Van Gogh and according to some sources – Gogol), those who enjoy their work and those who don't (remember Dostoevsky, who had to pay off his debts, and he wrote in constant comments), those who are now called “successful” (Raphael, who had a workshop for producing well-paid masterpieces and a clever businessman Warhol) and those who were not known at all during his lifetime (Van Gogh again), employees for wages (Bach and Handel) and those who lived half-starved (Savrasov), landowners (Turgenev, Tyutchev) and serfs (Tropinin and Shevchenko)…

    In short, it is impossible to make a list of the necessary qualities of the author of a true work of art.

    God's gift is necessary, and only God knows how the artist implements and develops it (or not).

  2. The answer is the same as the famous and chosen personalities of history were. Clarify their features and highlight common features. But is it true? Maybe they were just noticed? Or were they nominated, or were they favored by fate? The details of history included literary slaves and the appropriation of ideas. “What a person should be like …..” – absolutely everyone is different, especially talented individuals. And what unites us? Skills, passion (as a true inner need) , or obsession with a particular activity. Unconventional thinking and, of course, external factors. In my opinion, the obsession with art is particularly obvious.

  3. Different types of art may require different combinations of abilities and skills. But I think that the most important quality is a person's passion for their occupation. Because an enthusiastic person will be able to develop and hone their talents, and even if they do not have them by nature, they will be able to awaken some of them in themselves or somehow compensate for their lack.

    The question is complicated… I will answer it as a teacher and a person who graduated from the art university of the capital.

    During our first-to sixth-year art education, students study various subjects and techniques: we are taught to work with theater sets, film sets, oil painting on various subjects (landscape, portrait, still life), and drawing with various mediums. Studies are based on the principle of a mandatory block within the framework of a Russian school, as well as the development of individual style and themes (the final point is the diploma).

    So what a person should be like… not very clear… hardworking, perhaps…

What is “true” art? 130 years ago, ” impressionism “was not considered art, but now a painting by Van Gogh can cost an insane amount of money, and once the contemporaries of Van Gogh indifferently passed by the”daub”…
