Any art creates an image of the world, and the history of art, which studies the history of perception of the world, says more about a person of a particular era than a dry chronology can say about him. Reading literary texts, we are able to predict with a fairly high degree of accuracy what a person of a certain culture or nationality, living at a certain time in a certain social circle of a certain country, can do in certain typical circumstances.
This develops the imagination and outlook of the individual to an enormous extent and can protect against mistakes in reality that are possible if you do not know other cultures and peoples.
For an unobservant person who has never read a single book in his life, even the most romantic circumnavigation of the world by sea would be the most meaningless undertaking.
Communication with fiction develops intuition, deepens a person's personal experience, and significantly prolongs life.
Art is our cultural and aesthetic heritage. An anthology of ideas, emotional reactions to the everyday life of the era and historical events, the search for purpose, the development of ideas and technologies of the past.
The study of art makes a person a balanced, versatile personality, capable of thinking globally, and not only within the framework of their professional technical competence.
It has deep interweavings with philosophy, literature and history.
But visual art is a special form of reaction to existential existence. Art is subjective, and the author's personal interpretation is original.
Creativity, which has found something new in the field of ideas, technologies, painting techniques, cultural symbolism, takes on world significance, since it is devoid of a language barrier and is easily understood by intellectuals on both sides of the ocean.
It's not just about new styles of working with brush strokes that are understandable to a narrow circle of painters and specialists in contemporary art.
Art strives for excellence and originality, and in this it is on par with technological progress. And progress puts creators who have captured the spirit of the time on a pedestal of world fame.
So, for example, Jeff Koons – one of the most expensive modern sculptors, uses original ways of working with metal that a beginner will not be able to use. This is available only at the facilities of the world's best steel magnates, who support the talent of the artist who so effectively advertises their products around the globe.
Thus, studying helps you navigate the world, see prospects, develop aesthetic taste and emotional intelligence.
There is also a second aspect, why.
Art does not tolerate second-handness, and all the artistic techniques found are inherent in the historical epochs in which they were found, being then new and original.
For many artists, the temptation is great to master a few decorative techniques and copy the cubic style of Picasso, or expressive splashes of paint, Pollock, and make a lot of new things, “it seems to be no worse”.
But the problem is that it doesn't create anything new for history, and it doesn't develop art. Therefore, it refers not to modern art, but to decorative art in the genre of commercial art. The price of such creativity may even be quite high, and the artist can catch a successful wave of hype, but this has no history, museums will not take it, and the price of the artist will never grow on a serious scale, forever turning the creator only into a craftsman.
Therefore, the second aspect of learning art is vital for the inner artist's survival. How can you create something truly original without exploring what has already been offered to the world today? How can you see something new without getting on top of developing the mastery of existing ideas?
Of course, there are also random discoveries, but in terms of career, you can't rely on them.
The third aspect is Spatial and aesthetic.
Space and environment shape our thinking, and all our decisions are influenced by our environment, the signs and symbols that we fill our lives with.
According to the biology of human behavior, our consciousness is subliminal, and everything that we invent, decide, create is formed from our state, seen images and heard words caught by us from the flow of information around us.
Art, especially aesthetic art, is based on the laws of beauty and harmony, formal and color, ideological and technical. So that a masterfully executed masterpiece gets a powerful suggestive effect on the viewer.
Therefore, it is advantageous to surround yourself with beautiful, thoughtful and high-quality things, since, together, these ideas will turn into a means of expression with which the creator creates his new works. As well as an environment in which the individual's decisions will be more complex and thoughtful.
Art can not be by itself, separately. Art is a part of culture. Translated from Sanskrit, Culture is “Honoring the Light” (Cult-veneration, Ur-Light). Culture is a call to creation: to the creation of the world, to the creation of society, to the creation of man, to the creation of the spirit. And nothing else. An ugly surrogate of art ( and thus Culture) cannot be a creator, only a destroyer. Nowadays, there are a lot of surrogates in this area … and not only in this one. Criterion of true art (Culture) – Beauty and harmony.
Real art, like Culture in general, is not a way of entertainment. It is a way of knowing the world, knowing a person, knowing yourself. It is a tool for labor. It is a tool for self-education, for self-improvement, for education and creation of Higher aspirations, Higher principles and Higher qualities in a person. By cultivating the Highest, a person can change this world for the better. Of course, art can serve as a way to relax. But this is the most insignificant facet of such a valuable and important diamond – Culture. Unless, of course, art becomes part of the hucksters ' plans.
