You should start with the book “The Doll and the Dwarf” – it still remains, probably, one of the most sensible books of Zizek with a lot of interesting ideas. I don't think it's worth wasting time on collections of journalism – Zizek almost always says what he wrote before, only the chimney is lower and the smoke is thinner. And you can continue with the book “Reflections in Red”.
Another option is the Pervert's Movie Guide dilogy (the first one is more fun than the second) – they are funny and feel more interesting than most of his books and give Zizek the way he is – loving the joke more than the finished thought, in love with pop culture, confused, juggling Hegel, Lacan and Marx as he needs, end-saw-on and end-saw-on.
