Rene Descartes famously said, ” I think, therefore I exist.” In this simple and lapidary maxim lies a deep thought, which the philosopher went to for a long time. Descartes was one of the founders of the theory of rationalism, which indisputably proved the power of the human mind in its superiority over nature. The essence of the maxim was that if we didn't exist, we wouldn't be able to think, but we think and feel like individuals. Even if we were inside a computer simulation, we existed, or rather, our minds would exist. More detailed information about Cartesian ideas can be found in one of his works, namely in the “Principles of Philosophy”.
