There are several possible answers here:
Biological. Each species and its representative exists for the purpose of reproduction. Everything is built around this seemingly simple process. So death is the logical conclusion of the algorithm: born, bred, goodbye.
Religious. Death is a kind of transition to a different energy level. To a different level of existence.
These two options are considered from the point of view of the dying subject. That is, meaning for someone who is dying, but there are versions of the meaning of the creature's death for others.
