The essence of this mutation is that the offspring have intelligence. Homo Sapiens begins its existence. One of the most important consequences of this is that a person recognizes others as similar to themselves. He understands that he, for example, is waiting for the same thing as his brother, if he puts his hand in the fire (and so he learns from other people's experience, and in general consciously learns). He understands that there are causes and effects, there is he and others, and these others are just like him. He understands that the world in general is divided into parts, that there is a forest and there are trees and there is one particular tree, and if it burns, then others will burn.

    And he also understands that man is mortal, which means that I myself am mortal.

    At the same time, inherited from evolution, we have an instinct that is responsible for the fear of danger, and death for him is also a danger. And a person, realizing that he is INEVITABLY mortal, experiences terrible frustration. He's losing HOPE. This is a terrible failure in the system, which animals do not have (they act under the influence of instinct, but DO NOT THINK about their mortality).

    The idea of an afterlife solves this problem. A person has an explanation for why one should not be afraid of death. Or rather, not even so. Death disappears, and the cause of the system conflict disappears. This allows people to somehow continue to exist.

The deceased becomes an “ancestor” and goes to a special “afterlife” world, from where he continues to monitor the living, give them advice (through shamans, etc.), protect them (then this is transformed into guardian angels, for example). And the cemetery itself becomes a sacred place, where the dead are separated from the living, but at the same time are always close.

    And ideas about the afterlife then began to develop as ideas about that special world from which the dead help the living, protect them, where they know everything and sometimes share knowledge with the living.
