If something is named in different words, it means that what different words indicate is of a different nature.
Most often, the sense of humor is most pronounced among those who have a lot of different, but superficial information on various issues. Thus, using humor allows you to look smarter (more knowledgeable) and not affect the greater depth of understanding of the information being discussed.
The very same sense of humor can also be deep – this is when jokes are not understood by many, and it can also be superficial, when jokes are at the level of slipping into vulgarity, but do not cross this line.
Therefore, the answer to the question can be either ” yes ” – a person with a sense of humor can be stupid, or “no”.
Sure. There are two basic concepts of stupidity: 1. Not wise (mostly lack of sanity). 2. Not smart (doesn't have enough knowledge). Sense of humor is an important component of wisdom, or rather that part of it that is called “self-irony” , but far from the only one, sanity and critical thinking are just as important , which, alas, people with a sense of humor do not always have. If we talk about the second concept, then humor, often has nothing to do with the presence of knowledge, but rather affects the sphere of personal experience or the state of mind.
It depends on what is meant by: “being stupid”, not understanding many disciplines, or having a hard time thinking about life? If a really good sense of humor, built on verbal jokes, and not on antics, then no person who can find positive thoughts in everything or connect associations that are on the surface, but are not yet connected by others, can simply not be stupid. Humor is an indicator of intelligence and speed of thinking (if it is situational), plus memory, if a person lives constantly laughing, then later in different companies, he can slightly paraphrase and adapt a former successful joke. So we get that humor is based on three pillars: Attentiveness to the situation, Speed of thinking and Memory. Plus, the same sense of selectivity to a particular phrase that can cause a smile, which is – “sense of humor”.
You know, I've NEVER met such a person in my life. In my opinion, a sense of humor is already an indicator of intelligence. Everyone I talked to, who had a good sense of humor, were great friends, conversationalists, girlfriends, in general – people. They were educated, intelligent individuals (Studies don't count here). If you meet a stupid person with a “sense of humor,” let me know.
