Defining the meaning of life is necessary for various reasons:
1) in case of life crises/dead ends and revision of the whole life,
2) from a scientific point of view, this is the basis of all life activity.
Existence needs no justification. As the meaning does not need to be defined.
We need a sense of existence. Those who are bored with the role of Sisyphus.
Why justify your existence?! A person is not born on his own whim. You still have a question to ask women in labor: how do you justify the birth of your children?! At a minimum, they will not understand you, as a maximum they will “caress”you. This is the instinct of reproduction, the instinct of genetic exchange for subsequent mutations and the continuation of evolution. If you are satisfied with this answer, then “existence” has only one single purpose – the evolution and transmission of information.
The question was asked incorrectly. Defining the meaning of life is not a grateful task and does not make sense in itself. Why do you need to justify your existence? To whom? For yourself? For what? To do what? It won't change anything, and it's a waste of time to find it. Meaning can be found in an act, action, work of art, and so on. No need to look for meanings where they can not be.
A little off:
Finding the meaning of life-trying to define your goals when you're stuck at a fork in the road between choices: “Right?” Or To The Left? Or Straight?
It's like the parable of the guard who asked the monk, ” Who are you? Where are you going?” Why?”
Throwing around in search of the meaning of life is blindness or satiety, because of which you can not see the stone on which unpleasant options are written: “Right-Left-Straight”.
It's like the chipmunk in the parable of the meaning of life, asking his brother about the meaning when it was time for them to eat and rest.
I think it stems from the desire to understand the main goal for effective planning of their actions. Anyway, I had something like this.
Very interesting question.
Existence does not need justification – a person (or anyone else) should not seek justification in his existence, because, firstly, he did not choose whether to be born or not, and secondly, to exist is absolutely not a crime, and I do not see any reason to give up life.
It's just that a person is inherent in thinking about everything and asking various questions, which is why many people ask the question of why and for what a person lives, whether he personally or humanity as a whole has any objective purpose, and so on.
If there is no objective purpose, a plan for human life, a specific purpose for human existence, it means that not a single act, not a single feeling, and our existence in general is devoid of any meaning, value, meaning, and, in fact, it makes absolutely no difference whether you jump right now out of the window and disappear into oblivion, or live happily until 80 years.
An atheistic worldview presupposes the absence of any higher purpose for humanity, the objective meaning of life, the value and significance of your personal life, because you are just a randomly and aimlessly created piece of matter, whose final “stop” is death.
I don't know exactly what about other religions, but in Christianity it is believed that the life of absolutely every person is valuable and that the Supreme Mind and Creator care about all people without exception, because He really loves each of us, “cares for us” (1 Peter 5: 7, Ps. 39: 18), has personal intentions for our good, plans for our lives (Jer. 29:11), died a painful death for each of us so that we could live!
“…for you were slain, and with your blood you redeemed us to God out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation; and you made us kings and priests to our God; and we will reign on the earth ” (Rev 5: 9).
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him ” (John 3: 16-17).
“Therefore you are no longer strangers or strangers, but fellow citizens of the saints and friends of God, having been established on the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, having Jesus Christ Himself as the cornerstone, on which the whole edifice is built up in harmony and grows into a holy temple in the Lord, on which you also are built up in the tabernacle of God by the Spirit” (Ephesians 2: 19-22).
“Who will separate us from the love of God: tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or the sword? As it is written, “They kill us every day for Your sake; they count us as sheep”to be slaughtered.” But we overcome all these things by the power of Him Who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor heights, nor depths, nor any other creature, can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8: 35-39).
“But as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, so He also received them, so that by death He might take away the power of him who has the power of death, that is,the devil,
and deliver those who through fear of death were subject to bondage all their lives.
For He will not receive angels, but the seed of Abraham.
Therefore He had to be made like the brethren in all things, so that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
For just as he himself suffered when he was tempted, so he is able to help those who are tempted” (Hebrews 2:14-18).
“The love of God for us was revealed in this, that God sent His Only Begotten Son into the world, that we might receive life through Him. This is love, that we did not love God, but he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins ” (1 John 4: 9-10).
“He himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we might be delivered from our sins and live in righteousness. For you were like sheep that go astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls ” (1 Peter 2: 24-25).
“and you, who were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made alive together with him, forgiving us all our sins, destroying the teaching of the handwriting that was against us, and he took it from the midst and nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).
Peace be with you.
People who live well are convinced that their lives are full of problems, because in their view everything should be different. But the reality will never meet expectations. Because expectations are a fantasy. As a result, such people suffer until they can destroy the expectations of another life. As soon as this happens, everything gets better.
The meaning of life is in life itself. This is the goal of life and the movement towards its solution. It all depends on a particular person who has his own personal meaning of life. On a personal example, my meaning of life is to strive to improve society through philosophy. But before that, I considered it necessary to work in the Far North, where I found a uranium deposit. Then I considered it necessary to sail the seas and oceans on a fishing trawler, to give fish to the Motherland. Then he entered the Moscow State University Faculty of Philosophy. I got my degree. Then he created a Systematic Philosophy of social transformation. So there is no need for a creative person to justify his existence.
And what is the meaning of your life or mine? Meaning under your nose. Meaning in your life. If you live, it makes sense. If he left…your meaning in your life is not there.
In my opinion, the meaning of life is the opportunity and desire to learn. I'm not talking specifically about getting an education. Rather, think about who we are-people, what is our life on earth… When a person becomes confident in the completeness of his knowledge, the meaning of his life becomes in teaching others how to live. All this life turns into a dispute with others, internally and internally. Life, in this case, has become complete, despite the continued physical existence. The meaning of life is never to linger on one thing.
