Signs I think work like a trigger. You saw a sign and start waiting for an event and then it can happen by itself and then “miracle sign works” or the event can happen due to the fault of your subconscious and then “miracle sign works”. There is of course an option that nothing will happen.
But about the premonitions, everything is more complicated. I believe that this is the work of the subconscious mind, which has understood something.
If every time after some action there were quite definite consequences, the people recorded this pattern in the form of another rule or omen. Breaking folk and magical rules with a silly optimistic smile, convincing yourself that “I don't believe in anything like this, so nothing bad will happen to me” is both illogical, stupid, and dangerous. Anyone who considers such rules and omens “superstition”, in fact, declares idiots millions of people who once lived and live now. “If I don't believe it, it won't happen” – that's really nonsense and superstition.
