  1. I recently read a great post about the porn industry(This is not an advertisement for the group, but only a link to the source), where the author admirably revealed the wrong judgments of many people about pornography as something bad or humiliating, and I completely agree with him.
I will briefly write out its main idea:

    1) Misjudging the porn industry
Many feminists believe that the porn industry exploits women and instills false ideas about sex in its viewers. I believe that these are the vices of society and culture in general, and not porn in particular.

At the same time, despite all its shortcomings, pornography is the only genre that is not afraid to talk about sex. And as long as we put a taboo on it, we forbid ourselves to openly discuss the existing problems of gender interaction in society. Yes, the porn industry is not perfect, but by abandoning it entirely, we not only allow it to remain in the same deplorable state, but also deprive ourselves of an effective tool for communicating positive ideals to society.

In other words, it is the wrong approach to prohibit and take the phenomenon beyond the scope of ethics. The right approach is to try to understand and apply it for good.

Non-acceptance of sex is so deeply ingrained in our minds that the porn industry can no longer be perceived as an ordinary industry. In the meantime, that's exactly how you should look at it. It is no different from a normal business.

    2) The whole industry suffers from criminals
The recent Harvey Weinstein scandal, as well as the subsequent series of revelations, proved that inappropriate behavior, harassment, harassment and violence are features that are not only inherent in pornography. But no one tried to ban Hollywood. Society is clearly targeting criminals, not the entire industry. And it helped to change it for the better. You should do the same with porn.

Criminals — they're the same everywhere. You should fight them, not hiding them in the bowels of society, but pulling them out into the light and condemning them. So why put up a shield in front of rapists from a multi-million dollar industry?

    3) Instilling incorrect values
Of course, pornography spreads completely unrealistic norms of behavior, relationships, and, in fact, sex itself. But this is not a problem of pornography, it is a problem of art in general.

Hollywood movies also teach us the wrong things. For example, that we should all look perfect, live in luxury apartments, make jokes at every turn, seduce any girl in a couple of minutes (!), solve problems with spectacular violence (!!), take part in incredible adventures (!!!). Hollywood movies don't do this out of spite. It's just a business. And the business always applies what works for the consumer.

Similarly, porn shows completely improbable sex, because it is more convenient to show it that way. We are not embarrassed that the hero and heroine in the film fall in love with each other in two hours of time, are we? Why does it bother us that the characters in porn agree on everything in five minutes, and then have sex in uncomfortable, but well-viewed poses? This is just a tribute to the format.

    Conclusion:
Of course, the porn industry is in a terrible state. But what's the point of being mad at her for that? This is a normal business that tries to capitalize on the weaknesses of its customers. It must be changed from the inside out. And to change something, you must first understand it. Accept it.

I encourage anyone who was once given the idea that pornography is evil to think about where evil comes from in the first place.

If you think it's because you want to jerk off, then yeah.
