  1. This is a very difficult task, because the problem is both you and him.

In him, because he will not always reveal to you the true motives of his actions. If only because he is not always aware of them. It will regale you with socially acceptable (or desirable) motivations.

In you, because it will take a lot of time, probably months, and a crystal-clear cold brain that does not allow projections of its own personality, capable of comparing a huge number of situations and their interpretations from different points of view. Search for intersections and patterns.

This is an almost impossible task, if you do not resort to any typing, cliches, or shortcuts…

But thank God you don't need it.

Often it is enough just to listen carefully to the person and support them. Or ask them to tell you more(and even more and more) about what you think is questionable in their story.

  2. To learn to understand other people, you need to learn to understand yourself. If we don't fully know ourselves, how can we claim to know and understand another person? And why does knowing yourself lead to knowing others? Because all people on Earth are manipulated and controlled by the same spiritual illnesses, the same passions. Learn to understand yourself, learn to see the sources of your desires, aspirations, thoughts-learn to understand other people, because the sources of their actions, words, emotions are the same.

  3. Can. The more often you mentally try to put yourself in someone else's shoes, the more you will understand people in general, and specific people. Tested on our own experience. 🙂 This is a skill. It comes with time. Also, in order to understand someone deeply, you need to be able to listen carefully to them. Without this, too, nowhere.

  4. I don't think so. No one can fully understand the other person. Even for the same problems, we look at them differently. We also feel pain differently. Therefore, you need to give advice very carefully, so as not to cause even more pain.
