Mentalism�(mastery of psychological experiments / mental psyche— a type of performing art ” demonstration in public of psychological experiments, experiments and “extrasensory” abilities, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis”, etc., as well as outstanding memory abilities and fast calculations. Mentalism can also include hypnosis as a stage art.
Mentalism uses principles and skills similar to other types of illusionism. Some of the performers claim that they actually have psychic abilities, while others claim that there is nothing supernatural in their performances, that their numbers use the achievements of science and knowledge of the human psyche and physiology.
Some mentalists separate their art from other types of stage magic, but many performances combine elements of both psychological experiences and illusions.
