  1. It's good to live somewhere in India. Sit in the shade under a tree and think about who you are and why you came to this world. Slowly indulge in thoughts, taking a bite of rice cake.

Unfortunately, this style of self-knowledge is not well suited for our latitudes. It's cold, wet, and dirty under the tree. There are vigilant policemen walking around. Yes, and in the box constantly throw receipts for housing and communal services. Therefore, for the average citizen burdened with responsibilities, the process of self-knowledge is not separable from ordinary life. And the questions that contribute to this knowledge should be inscribed in its fabric.

For example, you may feel irritated towards a certain person. You may ask yourself-what kind of emotion is this annoyance masking? Fear? Anger over trespassing? The desire to prove yourself right?

If you have repeatedly refused to participate in a contest in which you have every chance of becoming a winner for no apparent reason, you can try to ask yourself what feelings and attitudes prevent you from manifesting. Fear of failure? Fear of being rejected?

You don't have to invent any special questions or master special techniques. Life itself throws up problems when we are faced with its manifestations and limitations. The only thing that is needed for this is to stop acting automatically, stereotypically, believing that nothing can be changed.

You get to know yourself in communication with other people, in work and family life, in interaction with art. The idea is simply that when faced with your own feelings, do not try to drown them out, ignore them, or distract yourself, but try to understand why you need them. It is in real life, in feelings, in communication that real self-knowledge arises, which is difficult to achieve with the help of the most accurate questions and the most professional tests.

  2. My friend, there are no universal questions, and if you answer them in one moment, you will immediately recognize yourself.

I am close to the point of view that a person is a dynamic structure that changes in the course of life. In connection with the acquisition and processing of experience, our value-semantic orientation often changes, we start to look at things differently, evaluate life differently, and our emotional response changes accordingly. therefore, in order to understand yourself, you need to purposefully and regularly set up contact with yourself, develop reflexivity.

Of course, I could advise you to use the “5 whys” technique to find causal relationships. In fact, its application can be quite widespread. And the technique is really quite good. It can help you understand what motivates you to act, i.e. just get to know yourself. It's just that even these “whys”, sometimes, need to be asked correctly, and not be afraid of answers, honestly look at yourself.

But, I would really like to advise you on a technique that is widely known, but many underestimated-keeping a diary. One of the basic things I give clients in the therapy process.

You just need to find a notebook and make 5 columns in it (you can adjust their number at will and preference): 1-situation; 2-thoughts; 3-feelings; 4-actions (behavior); 5-sensations in the body. This will help you understand how you react to certain situations, what you feel, i.e. get to know yourself. If you train yourself to do this, and do it regularly, you will make 100% progress in your desire. And how many questions are there: how do I feel? What are the sensations in the body? What do I want to do? What am I thinking? etc. In general, the hunger for questions will definitely be satisfied)

Good luck, this path is thorny. Hugged 🙂

  3. What do I want? Why would I do that? And what price am I willing to pay for it? The first question seems to be the simplest, but most often you will hear about what they DON't want. Answer each question as concretely as possible. For example, the most general answer is:”Happiness”. And what will your happiness consist of, how exactly do you see it for yourself? Simple questions, but the answers will contain a lot of failures, values, acceptable ways to achieve, obstacles along the way.

  5. There is no situation in which mental work is impossible, Dm.Yves used to say.Pisarev. Whether you live in the United States or New Guinea, you always have the opportunity to stop and think. At the same time, both in Norway and in Russia, there are always a lot of good reasons and far-fetched pretexts for avoiding (running away from) the most important issues until the very grave.: “Who am I? What am I? Why do I live? What is my calling?
Why am I doing this now? Why?
How do I live? What can I do and want to do? What should and must I do before I die?
What can I change? What can't I do? What do you need to accept? Is it really necessary?
“Everywhere you can block out these issues by watching TV, listening to radio, reading newspapers, using the Internet, by your husband or wife,by your children, by your family, by your car, by hunting, by your summer house, by your 20-hour workday, by your high status, by the “privileges of shame”, by the office rat race, by vodka, by passoa – whatever you want. But the trouble is. what these issues are never (or most of the time) they don't let you go far and for a long time.
