In Islamic countries, there is a very high level of religiosity, and Islam condemns suicide.
Allah used to say:”Don't push yourself to your doom!“(Surah al-Baqarah, verse 195).
The Prophet Muhammad said:«Whoever throws himself down a mountain and kills himself will throw himself into hell forever; whoever drinks poison and kills himself will burn in hell forever with poison in his hand; whoever kills himself with a weapon will kill himself with the same weapon in hellfire forever “ (Sahih al-Bukhari, No. 5442).
From the above, it follows that suicide is one of the most burdensome offenses before the Creator. The above hadeeth states that suicides will be tortured forever, but a Muslim cannot remain in hell forever, so such torment awaits only non-believers.
Muslims are God-fearing, so they do not commit such a misdemeanor.

One Muslim told me that in case of famine, you can also eat pork, because death from starvation is suicide, which is a much greater sin.
