Rather, there is an illusion of it. It's just that changes often look like degradation – when viewed from the perspective of those who are receding into the past.
Older people usually talk about the degradation of generations, looking at the young. They simply evaluate young people from the height of their life experience and knowledge – and see that they are dumber and weaker than they are today. And they do not compare themselves young with the modern youth, but the current ones. And, of course, in their favor: because they are simply older and more experienced in every sense.
In addition, the world is changing quite rapidly, and the problems that need to be solved by a person are changing. For example, people over 45 now sometimes blame the young for everyday effeminacy and whims. They say, weak steel, without parmesan and ham is not life for them, and we ate only buckwheat and cheese “Friendship” and were ogogo. But the fact is that a modern young man has absolutely no need to be a household ascetic: the Soviet way of life with its deficit is a thing of the past. Or the eternal accusations of lack of education – again, the point is not that everyone has become worse at learning, but that previously it was necessary to keep a lot of information in your head, and today there is an Internet and gadgets for this. The changed conditions force us to develop other skills that are unknown to the older generation.
The same goes for accusations of promiscuity. The people have remained the same , but the mores have changed. Because there are simply more opportunities-and, accordingly, some part of society has taken advantage of them.
“I have lost all hope for the future of our country if today's young people take over the reins of government tomorrow, because these young people are unbearable, unrestrained, simply terrible.”
– Hesiod, ca. 720 BC
On the one hand, I share the point of view that for the adult generation, from century to century, youth seems to be a primitive product. On the other hand, looking at what teenagers write in World of Tanks, it becomes scary. A phrase of similar content occurs in one chat message.: “Who wants to set foot in zvod?” I remember exactly that at the age of 15 it was something out of the ordinary, even for a three-year-old. Looking at this, I already believe that there are teenagers who don't know the meaning of the word “prisoner”. Until recently, I considered such curiosities to be stories of fastidious teachers.
Hardly! Each generation is trying to create more comfortable living conditions for their children (progressing). It's just that the times are different. But adults should always be wiser to protect their souls from bad rhetoric, bad events, which children certainly can not cope with. Now, in my opinion, there is a clear overkill of adult promiscuity in tactless speeches and appeals from different sides. Instead of age restrictions of +16, it would be better if authors were warned, including: “Your own children can see, read, hear, and even believe you.” Great question! +
