The heroes of our time are undoubtedly the children of high-ranking officials. They are young, they are successful, and possibly happy. They did not have to work hard and make their way up the career ladder for a long time, counting pennies in their pocket to buy food in the store. They are guaranteed promotion to the top. They are covered on all fronts, and for almost any act and for any behavior. Their children are guaranteed a cloudless childhood, and they themselves are guaranteed a cloudless old age. Well, where these heroes of our time will lead the country and people, we'll see, time will tell, after all, Pechorin was not a saint either…
The heroes are dead.
There was no hope left.
The world is trying to fight for the last breath of air in the cramped barrel of life.
Everyone lies and no one is punished, everyone is a villain, but the heroes are dead.
The train of genesis composition rushes through the corpses of heroes, morals, manners right under the ground.
And everything repeats again.
The last time I was asked such a question in a Soviet school was about 30 years ago, in the form of the topic of a city literature test. However, in a more private version: “Was Bazarov a hero of his time?”. I, like the whole class (except for one girl), of course, answered that I was, and got a “four”: “There was already Marxism at that time,” the teacher explained to me. “And only the one who mastered the most advanced teaching could be considered a hero of his time!” What am I supposed to master now that Marxism has been handed over to a junk dealer like a worn-out lapserdak?
The inexhaustible desire to create a new host of heroes leads to the fact that it turns out to be new martyrs who professed God and cosmonauts who professed his non-existence, White Guard poets and dissident physicists who fought against the Soviet government, and thoroughly pro-Soviet marshals and underground workers. Reducing hero status to “the lives of wonderful people” makes us wonder what we mean by the word “hero “and whether”heroes” are even necessary.
Heroes came to us from antiquity, where they are people who entered into a battle with fate, died in this battle and immortalized themselves in the memory of posterity. Dying, the hero redeems some tragic guilt, entering into a confrontation not only with fate, but also with the existing system of things. Heroism is an explosion, destruction, a bomb detonated near the carriage with the hated tyrant. The word “hero “entails the obligatory genitive case — “…tragedies”. Where there is no “hero's death,” there is no tragedy. If you survived, then what a hero you are! “In my place, this is what anyone would do,” any normal person will answer. Free death is not enough to become a hero, this death must be correctly evaluated by descendants, get into the trend, coincide with the desired vector of development. You have to calculate too much to get into the heroes unmistakably.
From antiquity, heroes moved to a romantic culture that is not alien to grandeur and heroic pathos. Heroes are those who make history with Carlyle, and those who can lead the crowd with the Narodniks. The second question is where: to a riot, to an orgy, to a massacre, maybe. The time of romanticism is over. A century ago, “vekhovtsy” preferred ascetics to heroes. “There is a feat in battle, there is a feat in struggle; the highest feat is in patience, love and supplication,” they recalled Khomyakov's words with trepidation. But the “vekhovtsy” did not guess, ahead — a new harvest of heroes, real and constructed by the latest means of agitation and propaganda. A sure sign – today the heroes of weak ideologies have so seriously diverged from literary heroes! (Let's not forget that Lermontov's “hero of our time” is also a literary image.)
Ideologies again dream of marshals and combine harvesters, literature stubbornly pushes us the image of a” white-collar worker”, an office clerk, an IT specialist, in short, an average person like all of us, no worse and no better (the first requirement for the hero of a tragedy in Aristotle!), who accidentally fell out of the gray everyday life between the office, bed and nightclub. The heroes of TV talk shows are those who dance where they don't need to, under-educated students, runaways to war, and owners of psychic abilities that no one has experienced, but everyone has heard about. Perhaps today the philosophical question should be asked from a different angle: “what is the time when we are forced to beware of heroes?”.
Naturally, in any historical period, there have been and will be people who are worth keeping up with. These people can be from a wide variety of spheres of life: an athlete, a doctor, a teacher, an actor, a philanthropist, etc.
For me, the hero of my time is a person who did something not for himself, but for the sake of people, put the interests of someone else above his own, and this is such a rarity in our time.
Therefore, I will give a number of specific names:
1.Major Sergei Solnechnikov, who in 2012 covered a grenade thrown carelessly by one of the soldiers with his body. By his action, he saved the life of not only the thrower, but also his colleagues. Unfortunately, they couldn't save the hero's life.
2. swimming coachVladislav Smirnov, who in the summer of 2016 saved a man and his family near Anapa. Resting with his family on the shore, Vladislav saw that the man swam to meet the mattress, which was carried away into the sea. After 200 meters, my father's strength failed, and the mattress was carried further away. Without thinking twice, the coach grabbed his glasses and swam out to sea.
As a result, Vladislav managed to save people on the mattress, taking careless rescuers with him on the way back.
These are just some of the many examples that immediately came to mind. Everyone can be a hero for everyone, do good deeds, then our country will change for the better. WHO, IF NOT OURSELVES?!
