In my opinion, in the modern world, when everything that could be said in art has already been said, something new can be brought to culture only in the context of technical innovations, primarily in the field of mass consumption. For example, the very word “smartphone” came to our language from English, because native speakers of this particular language introduced this device into our everyday life. And in this sense, Russian culture is in deep stagnation and, with the exception of propaganda and small features of education, only absorbs the main trends of world culture, giving nothing in return…

In modern world culture (and in Russian culture as well), there are tendencies towards convergence of different cultural strata. Academic and mass art are often indistinguishable from each other. I think this is due to the fact that in the modern world, a work of art becomes the center of understanding reality. The huge popularity of street art in recent years is evidence of this. Similar processes occur in music: stylistic techniques and genre models of so-called “mass” music are quite freely implemented in academic music. Can you call it a cultural rebirth/degeneration?
It is difficult to answer this question unequivocally because of the impossibility of an objective perception of modern realities by a person. As an example of such a biased attitude, one can cite the assessments of the work of one of the geniuses of Russian modernity, Sergey Anatolyevich Kuryokhin. This is a person of a universal mindset, whose activity did not leave anyone indifferent – and views on this activity were extremely ambiguous. Kuryokhin's ideas were embodied in a number of performances of the Pop Mechanics project, in which the author's flight of fancy was limited only by the technical impossibility of executing his plans. Now these events serve as a source of ideas and inspiration for the work of young Russian artists. This is only a single example of a change in reception after a relatively short period of time. And although, I repeat, it is difficult to assess modern Russian culture – the vector of its further development seems positive.
