Why did no one try to save Christ from crucifixion, based on the Gospel postulate "There is no greater love than if someone lays down his life for his friends"?

    Jesus made it clear that he would be killed. Not because it can't avoid it, but because it's necessary to save people. And your quote is just right – Jesus went to “lay down his life for others”, only all people were his friends, and he went to death for them. Is it possible to stop someone who goes to show his love, even if out of love for him?

    Christ was torn apart by the crowd – this is the meaning of the gospel parable, and it is for this reason that no one dared to go this way after him. Everyone sooner or later begins to think about how to escape from the crucifixion.
