I don't know what your childhood was like. I wanted to go to Mars. Then, when I was studying at a music school, I dreamed of becoming a singer. A childhood friend was engaged in ballet and constantly skipped it-she hated it.
Probably, this was the case in the Soviet past, now the desires of children are strikingly diverse. Then cosmonauts were (and still are, but this is less promoted) a symbol of masculinity, and ballerinas-femininity. Both professions play a significant role in society, their achievements are on public display, they are famous, they do what others can not.
